The middle ages had a feudal system that included Samurais and knights. But have you ever wondered who would win in a battle between the two? This essay will be highlighting who would win the battle. While knights and Samurais have many similarities, in a one on one battle, the advantage would be to the samurai and this can be seen in their training, armory, and code of honor. The first way that samurais have an advantage is training. In document C1 written by the PBS Series it says in”In their schooling they had physical training… The young warriors studied Kendo (the art of fencing). The second area that samurais would have an advantage in battle is armory. In document D written in the DBQ project it says “ A knight’s armor could weigh to 40-60 pounds”. This is a disadvantage for them because they can’t move as swiftly or quickly as the knights. Then again you might say that when a samurai’s armor gets wet it also weighs a lot. But fortunately rain was rare.Another piece of evidence that supports the claim in document D written in the DBQ project it says knights had heavy armor all over their body unlike samurai’s who had lighter armor except on their right arm. It had no armor so it would be easier to slash their sword. This made it easier unlike knight’s who had to worry about the weight. Their are plenty of reasons why a samurai would win a one one battle vs. knight. The final way that samurais were stronger was their Code of Honor. In document C1 written by the PBS series it says “ samurai’s were expected to live according to Bushido, a strict ethical code influenced by Confucianism…” This means that the samurais were trained to be kind and loyal. It also says in document C1 written by the PBS series “ stressed loyalty to one’s master, respect for one’s, ethical behavior in all aspects of life and complete self-discipline”. They are extending the loyalty
