As the young squire cared for his Knights horse, he could not wait for the days when he would take after his master knight and grow up to be just like him. In the Middle Ages, two warriors existed to protect their people. They were called Samurais, who belonged to Japan, and Knights, who belonged to Europe. Knights were superior because of their trading, their codes, and their religion. The knights were superior because of their training. If a Knight’s son did not want to become a Knight and became a knight out of obligation, it might affect how well they performed their duties such as fighting, being loyal to the King, and upholding the code. If they did not want to be a Knight, they might not try as hard to live up to the code, while a Knight who chose to be a Knight himself would likely perform better and help make Europe stronger. Knights were superior because of their religion. The Knights viewed life as valuable and important (Document F). This made Knights superior because with their religion guiding them, they viewed life as sacred and would then fight harder to protect life. This would include the lives of others and their own. They needed to value life because they believed that they needed to stay alive, which would lead them to fight harder to stay alive longer and protect Europe.
