“Look, J!” M exclaims happily. “It’s a fox!” J turns around to look at M. She is pointing to a small creature peeking out from behind a large tree. J frowns, slightly disappointed there are any ordinary creatures like foxes in such an unordinary place. She turns away from the two, going back to the rusted compass in her hands.
The fox moves from behind the tree and M gasps, causing J to turn back to the younger girl. Her mouth drops open. It’s no ordinary fox like she’d originally thought. No, this one has nine tails that vary in length and flow around it, making it look like an angelic creature sent from the heavens.
“Kitsune,” J says, remembering when she’d read about a creature with nine tails while back at home. “It’s a Kitsune.”
“Correct, human child,” the fox purrs. “Most from your dimension don’t know what I am. I’m impressed.”

“You like to play tricks on everyone who comes and goes throughout the forest, I assume.” The kitsune lets out something like a laugh, but it turns into an annoyed snarl.
It beings to move slowly towards the two sisters. J grows weary of the Magical and reaches down to grab the enchanted sword holstered at her side. In the few moments that it takes J to grab her weapon, M squeals with joy and rushes towards the fox. J desperately tries to grab her before she can get close, but M slips off the white cardigan she has on, leaving J holding that instead of
