Kite Runner Strength

A prominent strength I took note of as I was reading is that I take time to understand the story, rather than quickly rushing through the novel. As I was reading The Kite Runner, there were many circumstances where I would re-read pages or take a moment to stop and think about if what I was reading could be of importance later on in the story, if I thought it was I wrote it down. I would rather take a longer time to read my novel so I can remember the details of the book and make sure I understand the plot as well. This also benefited me later on when analyzing the novel because I was able to remember details within the story that I may not have noticed if I did not stop to understand them. Another strength I noticed whilst reading is the fact that I recorded quotes and events that stood out to me throughout the novel. Taking notes on important quotes and events was helpful since it made it simple to remember more about the novel and also learns about it. By having the ability to easily look back on events and quotes that stood out to me, it gave me an advantage and easier time trying to understand the main points the author was trying to get across. Normally while reading a novel I will stop if I don’t understand a concept and will try to clarify it, but if it is something like a word I don’t understand or a reference to someone outside of the novel I sometimes skip over it. This is not good to do because the book may be referencing or explaining something of importance that I then miss out on. I also need to improve on staying focused on my novel. While I am reading it is easy for me to get distracted, making it difficult to remember where I was in the book or lose my train of thought. This is very annoying as it can cause me to take longer to read the novel and even maintain interest in

The Kite Runner, by Khaled Hosseini, is a story about two boys who grow up together and the life-altering challenges they face. While many believe this is a heartbreaking story about facing adversity, there are underlying parallels betwixt characters and scenes displayed in the novel and current events happening in Afghanistan. The scene in chapter 16 when Sanabaur comes back to Hassan, beaten and scarred deliniates what the Taliban took away from the women of Afghanistan during that time period. Because Sanabaur came back to Hassan with scars and cuts littering her face, it takes away all of the power she previously had.…

Upon completing the StrengthsFinder survey, it is determined my 5 greatest strengths are the learner, achiever, competition, strategic, and relator, all of which I expected (Clifton, Anderson, & Schreiner, 2006). While reading the text I examined the various themes of different strengths, relating closely to the 5 assigned by the survey, I am impressed by how well the explanations were written in the book, Strengths Quest Second Edition. The text in correlation with the materials provided from the StrengthsFinder survey brought forth meaning and depth into finding out exactly the type of person I am. Learning is listed as my top strength in the survey (Clifton, Anderson, & Schreiner, 2006). I believe I have used that trait extensively throughout…
