Final Exam Essay
In the past 10 months, I have accomplished a great amount as a writer. As the year closes I find myself reflecting on how i have grown with the help of an awesome teacher and school curriculum. Also, I have improved my skills in avoiding repetition, focus, organization. In addition, I have realized what I need to work on in future years.
A problem I persistently acquired during the writing of my Sonnet was repetition. While acceptable when in proper context, repetition isn't always favorable as it bores the audience. In my Sonnet, I continuously used the words ‘day’ and ‘and’ which resulted in boredom and dissatisfaction when read aloud. Moreover, repetition was also a problem in the Romeo and Juliet project. “I chose” was a phrase I frequently used in that assignment. In the RJ project i struggled to have everything uniform. As shown in the project, I did not put the scenes in order, and failed to consider how this would affect the quality. Towards the middle, I skipped from scene 1 to scene 2 and then again from scene 4 to scene 1 which made it appear untidy. I avoided disorganization in my Kite Runner essay by ensuring that my main ideas were in order by occurrence, including transitions. Also, I avoided confusion in my Kite Runner essay by making sure not to stray away from the point by connecting everything back to the thesis. While in my sonnet there was no focused message or moral to it. The poem ranges from curfews, stars, thunder, and then fighting routine. In the poem I risked losing the audience’s attention by not have a point, which could ultimately cause confusion. Also, maintaining structure and focus demonstrates how I have grown as a writer because I now know how to incorporate them both without sacrificing one to have the
