“Are you searching for purpose? Then write something yeah it might be wordless. Paint something, it might be wordless. Pointless curses nonsense verses. You’ll see purpose start to surface, no one else is dealing with your demons, meaning maybe defeating them could be the beginning of your meaning, friend.” These lyrics come from the song, “Kitchen Sink” by Twenty One Pilots. These lyrics are one of many that speak to me and make me think about my purpose on this earth. Bands such as Twenty One Pilots, My Chemical Romance, and Panic! At the Disco have songs that also make me think about numerous things on this earth and about the people around me. The lyrics from most of these songs make me think about my existence and cause me to have a different …show more content…
For example, the song “Isle of Flightless Birds” by Twenty One Pilots makes me question why us humans do what we do. “All we are is an isle of flightless birds, we find our worth in giving birth and stuff, we're lining our homes against winding roads and we think the going is tough.” The lyrics here mean that we’re just aimless people with the same routines. Everyone’s lives are practically the same. This makes me want to do something extravagant when i’m older. I don’t want to live a “normal life,” I am prepared for conflict and adventure. Also, the song “Memories by Panic! At the Disco causes me to think about how fast time passes by. “Oh Memories! Where'd you go? You were all I've ever known! How I miss yesterday! How'd I let it fade away? Where'd you go?” This means that he’s missing time as it goes by and all the memories are going away faster that he thought it would. Time is an illusion and death is inevitable, why waste time if you can die any second. You should make the most of your time in this world because it won’t last forever. Hence, music has an effect on your life by making you debate about your existence and purpose in …show more content…
The song, “SING” by My Chemical Romance is motivational when it comes to this matter. “Sing it for the boys. Sing it for the girls, every time that you lose it sing it for the world. Sing it from the heart, sing it till you're nuts, sing it out for the ones that'll hate your guts, sing it for the deaf, sing it for the blind, sing about everyone that you left behind, sing it for the world.” This song is telling the other people who got pushed down, to get back up and express their feeling. Singing symbolizes expressing yourself and sharing your own unique style instead of backing down. Also, “Johnny Boy” by Twenty One Pilots is also inspirational when it comes to this. “Get up Johnny boy, get up Johnny boy Get up 'cause the world has left you lying on the ground. You're my pride and joy, you're my pride and joy. Get up Johnny boy because we all need you now.” This means that when you’re feeling sad, someone that cares about you will want you to “get up” because they don’t want to see you like this, they want you to be happy. He will realize that he’s important to at least one person. Therefore, music assists you to get back on your feet and continue

“We’re told these days that the hottest and fastest wire into memory is our sense of smell, but music must run a close second. Some songs carry us into a certain mood, some to a general region of our past lives, and some to a very particular moment and situation in time,” states Stephen Corey in A Voice for the Lonely. I cannot think of a time in my life where music hasn’t been there because I use music in times of trouble and in times of joy. It is in the background of every memory I have.…

Throughout the last century, music has transformed drastically in numerous ways. For example, in the 1950’s, songs were almost entirely acoustic and incredibly organic. Artists in the industry did not have access to the technology available today, which made them rely on their talents alone. The Twenty One Pilots song, “Car Radio” is based off an actual event while the singer, Joseph Tyler, was in college. He was running late to class and forgot to lock his car, when he got out of class, his car radio, CD player, all of his CDs and his GPS were all stolen from him. The loss of having music to play in the car helped him realise how much he used music as an escape from life and thinking about existence. Tyler Joseph is not the only one to use music as an escape. One of the reasons for this is perhaps how much lyrics have evolved to reflect reality, which gives people something they can relate to in their everyday lives.…

I love it when I find a new song that just touches my heart in so many ways. As I sit here and listen to "Something More" by Bonnie Dune, I can't help but appreciate the power of music so much more... The way a song can just take you to any place you want to be with whoever you want to be with, the way it can cause your mood to change in just seconds, the way it can say the things that we sometimes are afraid to say or just don't know how to say, the way it can take you back in time or maybe even hope for the future, the way it can instantaneously bring back memories of someone you may not have thought of in so long, or of those someones who are such a huge part of your life day in and day out, the way it can bring you into the arms of the…

To continue, many people are excluded just because of their financial situation. Such as, areas of high-poverty have people that are less likely to attend quality schools, live in good houses, have good healthcare, and have cheap consumer credit, and find other ways out of poverty. This is not fair because even if the people are in a tight situation, they do not need to be treated badly. Another example is that investigations have shown that Americans blame poverty on poor people and are declined to support anti- poverty attempts because they think the people in need are African American. This example ties in perfectly with both financial inequity and racism.…

At times I wonder what life would be like if there was a soundtrack playing in the background. The soundtrack would continue to play capturing every moment in life, although having a soundtrack playing in the background of my life is an impossible idea, there are still those certain songs that seem to sing in my head for every moment I have experienced in my life. I am frequently at a loss of words, but when I hear the right melody, everything falls in place it connects me with memories, places, people, and experiences. An Artists’ Influence Artists write about what they know; they pull feelings from their heart and their songs relay what the artists’ emotions, whether it be of their hometown, their high school crush, or their experiences. Many artists that came to fame during the twentieth century have a fair share of experiences they share with us in the form of their songs. The twentieth century is comprised of the institution of slavery and its effects, war, gender norms, discrimination based on nationality, sex, race, etc., and countless events that sparked protests and uproars in the United States. Music at this time was a phenomenon, and artists could use it to their advantage. Artists used their music to spread awareness about their cause, influence…

The Crow & The Butterfly A musician’s inspiration for a song can come from anywhere, even their own subconscious, and that proves true in the case of my favorite song “The Crow & The Butterfly” by Shinedown. The singer of the band and the writer of the song, Brent Smith, has said his inspiration came from a dream he had about a mother dealing with the death of a child. The song to me represents loss in any sense that is relevant to the listener. The emotion you feel while listening to the lyrics can speak to anyone in different aspects of their life.…

Life is hard for everyone. For people in third world countries and in the slums of first world countries, the reasons for their lives seeming hard are more obvious.
