Kirk Butts related he was southbound on Wilder Road from Knights Griffin Road, when he saw a small light in the road and slowed down because he thought it was a motorcycle. When Butts got closer to the light, he realized it was a man, (Ralph Patterson), yelling and holding a flashlight. Butts said he stopped his vehicle and heard kids screaming and crying. Butts related he got out of his car and went over to the van, looked in the driver side and saw the older kid in the back of the van, behind the driver seat. Butts related he lifted him from the van and took him to Ralph Patterson. Butts advised he then went to the younger kid, who was standing in the water and mud filled ditch, with his hands up in air and crying, by the barbed wire
