Through detailed descriptions of his kinship and admiration towards another human being, Boyle shows respect and a sense of equality. As the book opened, once story told by Boyle was when the Homeboy Bakery burned down. An employee named Lencho, a former gang member, began crying as the flames burned the small business down, on the fortunate side however, they rebuilt the bakery and Lencho became thrilled to go back to work. Throughout history, we have been prone to killing and fighting wars, to which we believe the fact that we are the most intelligent and superior beings. Once researched, this cannot be true because science shows that many animals and other organisms prove to be smarter although not fully evolved to their greatest point. Our society for years has fed us the belief that violence is beneficial, which is again not factual. Becoming violent is an age-old natural behavior that we turn to when things get tough, it is no way an act of intelligence, because to be clever and knowledgeable requires extra thought and clarity unlike the hostile nature we snap
