Kinsey: Movie Analysis

For my second written assignment I picked the movie Kinsey, a biographical drama of the life of a doctor who stirred much controversy during the decades of the 40’s and 50’s, as he studied the sexual behaviors of humans. The movie starts with Professor Kinsey being interviewed about his sexual history. During the interview, are flashbacks from Kinsey’s childhood and adolescence. The young child years show his father talking about modern inventions and demonizing them because they were the starting point of carnal sin, it also shows his experience as an adolescent as a member of the Boy Scouts relating to masturbation and a late teenage scene shows Kinsey disappointing his father by his chosen vocational intentions. As an adult, he was a teacher at Indiana University who lectured on what was the life and uniqueness of the gall wasps. Kinsey falls in love with a student from his class, and marries her. Since they both were virgins, they had a difficult time with their sexual life at first due to a condition of the wife, but after intervention from a doctor, it is shown that she had an intense sexual appetite.
At a book party celebrating Kinsey's latest publication on gall wasps, Kinsey approaches the dean of students about sex education course as opposed to propaganda against sex. After approval, Kinsey begins, teaching the sex course to a packed …show more content…
With high momentum on his side, Kinsey's research turns to women, which is met with more controversy. Unfortunately, the release of the female volume backfired and financial support for further research is removed. Kinsey feels that he has failed everyone who has ever been a victim of sexual ignorance.
