Kinsey researched human sexuality which also discovered the field of sexology. Kinsey was born in 1894 in Hoboken, New Jersey. His mother didn't have much education but his father was a professor. Kinsey also came from poor family and was never treated for his illnesses when he was a child. Kinsey did attend college and gained a lot from his experiences. When Kinsey was a young man he would insert objects into his urethra, this was to punish himself for having homophobic thoughts as this was his way of curing himself. He even circumcised himself. Kinsey seemed to be an odd man, perhaps this is what got him interested in studying human sexuality, out of his own curiosity. He did marry a woman and fathered four children. The people Kinsey studies the most were prostitutes and prisoners. As well as homosexual men. This was the starting point of his research because it was quite difficult to get everyday people to participate in the study at this time. So although he was gaining a lot of information it wasn't all the information that was out there. Kinsey eventually was able to talk to married couples and ask about there sexual experiences but this information wasn't very accurate. Kinsey did publish many books becoming bestsellers and the public started to see him as some sort of celebrity. The 1960s and 1970s were the most beneficial times for Kinsey's research. From filming his own experiences to researching materials from all over the world. Kinsey had such a drive to research as much as he could to best understand human sexuality which wasn't done very often at this time. It suggests that his curiosity in homosexual behavior is why he chose to research so extensively into this field. We know now his research was a great step forward to opening the conversation of sex, although not all his findings were completely accurate we still have a lot of information that wasn't available until Kinsey. Kinsey really did extensively research to better understand human sexuality and it's many different

In the film Kinsey, directed by Bill Condon, Professor Alfred Kinsey uses science to explore and inform the public on sex during an era when sex was inappropriate to talk about. On the other hand, in the movie Thank You for Smoking, directed by Jason Reitman, lobbyist Nick Naylor defends and advocates the use of cigarettes in the country. Naylor and Kinsey both presents different ways of influencing their own audience. However, Naylor possesses the ability to overcome social media, and shows more logical and emotional appeal to his audience compared to Kinsey. Kinsey and Naylor both use logic in different ways; Kinsey uses logic to justify his selfish actions, while Naylor uses logic to disprove others.…

Homosexuality in the 1960’s wasn’t as open and fortunate as it is today. The same time period where Alison Bechdel and her two brothers being raised in west Pennsylvania in her graphic novel Fun Home, Her father Bruce and self were going through sexuality identification problems at the same time. Although it is not forwardly said but with evidence from the text, Bruce may have committed suicide in result of holding his true identity from the public, his wife Helen and family and covering up his sexual desire for younger men. All a mist of this, Homosexuality was still considered a mental illness and you could be jailed if you’re caught doing homosexual acts. Also the way homosexuals were portrayed made it look like to the rest of the world…

Luce was the student adviser and would often discuss sex with the other boys, notably situations that would be considered perverted by Holden and the others. A topic Holden discusses extensively is Luce's knowledge on sexuality: “Old Luce knew who every flit and lesbian in the United States was. All you had to do was mention somebody... and Luce would tell you if he was a flit or not.” (Salinger, 143).…

He sang all types of songs, one about Starbuck, traffic, vegetarians, tourist, homosexuality, and other ones. All of Kevin Yee’s songs were funny that I can’t even choose which one is my favorite. Aside from his songs, he also talked about him being gay and Asian. He said that whenever he “came out of the closet” to his parents at eighteen years old, that his mom was really supportive of him. Then joked around and said that he wished that she wasn’t so supportive so he could go through the pain of being rejected and disowned by his parents.…

Freud believed that all individuals are born with a sexual urge that morphs as they advance through life. He believed that self-expression, including through sex, led to happiness in individuals. While Freud did not intend for his theories to invoke rebellion, many used them to justify their actions. Not only did women partake in pre-martial sexual encounters, they also grew away from the standards of traditional family life. One of the biggest parts of this was a rise in the number of divorces.…

He had also published a detailed paper on the derrieres of famous cowboys which had resulted in his whole family thinking he was gay. He was as Myra explains, misunderstood because even though he was attracted to men, particularly famous actors like Clark Gable, he also admired women, a case in point being his absolute adoration of Lana Turner. When he reemerges as Myra, he is still attracted to men but also takes a shine to Mary-Ann, musing at one point in the book that she would even sleep with a woman. This shows a very blurred line between the prevalent sexual orientations. Indeed, it had taken the world hundreds of years to get somewhat used to homosexuality.…

For my human sexuality class, I was to conduct a sexual interview with an individual focusing on sexuality. We were to ask questions focusing on the individual’s attitudes and feelings towards sexuality and any misconceptions they may have held about sexuality. This activity also allowed the interviewer to become aware of their own feelings and attitudes about sexuality during the interview. I intentionally wanted to conduct this interview with a male, because asking questions around sexuality with males is an issue I am still learning to become comfortable with. Working as a family based therapist I have to ask questions surrounded around sexual activity, sexual trauma, and being to provide parents and adolescent with resources about sexual education.…

In the 1840s, police had often looked the other way regarding cases of homosexuality until homosexuality laws became much stricter (Adut 214). In 1895, Wilde was put on trial for sodomy; in his trial, the controversial contents of The Picture of Dorian Gray were used as evidence against him. He was found guilty and served the maximum sentence for his crime–two years in prison (Adut 238). But, even before his trial, Wilde’s sexuality was common…

As Kinsey points out (in regards to sexuality), “the world is not to be divided into sheep and goats. Not all things black nor all things white” (Kinsey, 1948). Kinsey’s revolutionary scale, as pointed out by Diamond (2008, p. 256), has been massively taken out of context and been divided into rigid “gay/lesbian, straight, and bisexual” categories. Despite Kinsey’s attempt to be anticategorical, we as a society seem to constrict ourselves to categories regardless. I speculate that this because it’s easier to wrap our heads around something if its under a strict category, rather than loosely “unlabeled”.…

He uses the right language to portray the crude meaning of his words, while honestly opening himself up sexually. Similarly, the poem Blue Angel has even more powerful homosexual imagery. In it, he writes about how she was the only one who accepted him at first and how his first curious experiences were with her. His homosexuality is vital to his work, and therefore it cannot be imitated without proper attention to that…

Step 4 - Sexual Intuition There are essentially four aspects to clitoral stimulation. These four are: directness (how direct is the touch to the clitoris), pressure (how much pressure you apply to the stimulation), pace (how fast you do it) and movement (the types of movements you do). Now that you have transitioned slowly and gently and you have begun the clitoral stimuli it’s time to create a rhythm meanwhile keeping the exterior genitalia wet (either through lubricating your finger with her vaginal juices, spit or lube). There’s no rule to how exactly each of these four aspects should be done yet you can be sure that if you just develop sexual intuition you will see that there’s no need for rules. Sexual intuition is simply:…

Being a part of a Human Sexuality course has definitely opened my eyes to many different topics and issues that are occurring around the world. I believe I have lived a very sheltered life after learning about some of these topics, because I hadn’t even heard of most of them. I liked to think I knew all there was to know about human sexuality simply because I understood sexual intercourse, STI`s, and using protection. But human sexuality involves much more than those three things. Three of the major topics that have made me really think about how uneducated I was in regards to human sexuality were sexual birth defects, gender identity and gender roles, and sexual assault.…
