Kino’s Other Side Have you ever wondered what can make people lose their sanity? In the book, The Pearl by John Steinbeck, it answers that very question about Kino’s sanity. Kino had a rather normal life before finding something so valuable no one should possess. It would change the course of Kino and his family's life, and their future indefinitely.

It had all started when Kino had awoken to the little crashes of the waves on the beach. He got up to watch the sunrise over the horizon, with his blanket covering his head and shoulders. No other animal is capable of performing the malicious as some humans are. That is the current position Kino is in. He wants his son coyotito to get an education, and he wants to marry Juana in their town church. Currently just wanting those things aren’t that bad. Kino became an animal when he killed a man. He caused physical harm to Juana, by punching her, and kicking her. He devoted his life or his soul, trying to keep the pearl safe and in his possession. Kino seemed like his old self was gone forever, and this new ignorant, rude had seized control over Kino. Kino, Juana, and Coyotito had fled their town after their house was ransacked and burnt to the ground. He was going to the capital to sell the pearl. If he never had found the pearl, none of this would have happened. Everything in life seems to happen for a reason, therefore do not take anything for granted. Work for everything you own, because nothing is just handed to you. Kino learned that the hard way by losing his son coyotito. Getting rid of the pearl was the smartest idea Kino ever had made, he needed to get rid of the pearl before anymore harm could happen to Kino, Juana, or anyone, or anything near him or close to his
