Kingdom Of Mered Essay

Once upon a time, the Kingdom of Mered was at the brink of war. The ruler of the land, Queen Isabella, was doing all she could to prevent the conflict. She had just returned from her rival kingdom, Dirawin, after attempting to allay tensions between them. Dirawin believed that her court had a spy in their castle, finding secrets that could be used to start a war. The queen had spent hour after hour attempting to convince the other kingdom that they had no intention of attacking them, but to no avail. Queen Isabella was more than a little exasperated. All that time, wasted. Just as she descended upon her throne, her benefactor came up to her.
“Your Royal Majesty, the kingdom’s financial planner is remiss. It seems he has not been diligently working on a budget for the past several months. I am ashamed to say that I did …show more content…
“He was quite doggedly avoiding me,” stated the benefactor.
When questioned, the financial planner said that he had no idea the budget had been neglected, but the queen didn’t believe him for a moment. Finally, after hours of questioning, he gave up lying. He told the queen that he presumed that the Kingdom of Dirawin could better use the funds to bolster their own kingdom, as he saw the Kingdom of Mered to be a lost cause.
“Why you smarmy, lying, impertinent, little milksop! How dare you give my money to another kingdom?” the queen snarled, full of rage.
When the financial planner was questioned further he said that he had also been feeding the Kingdom of Dirawin the lie that Mered had a spy and was preparing to attack them. He was the rat that had been the source of the kingdom’s tension and the queen would not stand for it. She called for him to be imprisoned for the rest of his life, and immediately wrote a letter to the king of Dirawin explaining the situation. It took some convincing, but he finally believed her, and the two kingdoms got along
