King Oberon Is A Tyration In Shakespeare's Midsummer Night

William Shakespeare’s play, Midsummer Night, portray that there are natural law and society law. These two laws symbolize a balance in the world. Without one, the world will be imbalance. However, evidence of King Oberon’s actions demonstrate to the reader that he is a tyrant in the play. Based on King Oberon’s actions toward cheating on his significant other while there are couples who are willing to sacrifice themselves for love, toward the Indian boy, and toward the use of the love potion, it displays his characteristic, thus proving the theme on King Oberon. With these two women in King Oberon’s past, it proves that he can quickly get in and out of a relationship and he would do anything to get his own way. However ignoring the consequences that she must face, she eloped with Lysander, her true love, to have an everlasting relationship. Oberon sends his mischievous servant, Puck, to acquire a magical flower, the juice of which can be spread over a sleeping person’s eyelids to make that person fall in love with the first thing he or she sees upon waking. Puck obtains the flower, and King Oberon thought that being Queen Titania 's husband he was superior to her, and she had a right to obey his commands. However Queen Titania having her own will power disagreed to give the changeling boy; she has dented his pride, thus he is going take revenge to get the consent to give him the Indian boy. King Oberon tells him of his plan to spread its juice on the sleeping Queen Titania’s eyelids. Thus Queen Titania fell in love with Bottom, the ass. After King Oberon has the Indian boy from Queen Titania, he was envy of Bottom because now all of her attractions are toward Bottom, thus he broke the spell to take the attraction that she was giving. All of the attraction towards the Indian boy and Bottom are on King Oberon due to the fact that he has the power and desire to cause Queen Titania lose herself. Because King Oberon used the love potion on his wife indicates that he is abusing the power that he has.
