With King Lear kicked out of both his daughter's house he stays outside in a tremendous storm, recounting everything that has happened. As the storm goes on we find out about the French invasion and how Gloucester is secretly apart of it. Lear is soon brought to shelter where he is informed of the invasion by Gloucester and how he needs to flee to Dover for safety. Lear agrees, but poor Gloucester is captured and brought to the evil sisters for the punishment of helping their father escape. Also the proof of Gloucester help to the French is showed, which leaves Regan's husband Cornwall to punish him. Cornwall pulls out Gloucester's eye and stoops on it. Reagan's servants are terrified of this, that one of them tries to help by fighting but is killed by Regan.
