Musical Instruments
It is important to note here that when Moses was given the original instructions, in Numbers 4, of how the holy items were to be transported, music was not part of the plan! Furthermore it does not state in 2 Sam 6 that God had commanded David to establish music and singing when the Ark was being returned. So some might say assembling a musical ensemble was a risky instruction given by David considering what had happened to Uzzah (2 Sam 6:7). Nevertheless, when we go to the account of King Hezekiah restoring the Temple in 2 Chronicles 29:25-30, we see that King Hezekiah reinstated the musicians in the house because it was a command that came directly from God to King David:

One of the reasons for this ideology is that even though music is mentioned frequently throughout the Old Testament, in the New Testament there is no mention of musical instruments being played in the Temple for worship. If we look at the surface of this belief, we conclude it is true that there is no reference and authority given in the New Testament for the playing of musical instruments in the Temple. In fact, every time the word ‘music’ is mentioned in the New Testament, it is only in reference to singing (using the voice as an instrument). One such scripture is Ephesians …show more content…
Hence researchers argue that the phrase “in your heart” could imply it is referring to something, which is internal, not a physical instrument.
For all those who feel that a musical instrument cannot be used in Church for praise and worship let me share with you some research that I have found on this topic. I believe it is down to personal choice. Whether you worship with or without musical instruments I personally do not believe that it matters to God, as long as praise and worship is done unto the Lord (Col 3:23-24).
