In literature, we tend to see characters of the norm, whether it’d be a hero, supportive secondary character, or an evil villain. These character types follow a pattern of being an archetype, meaning that they are part of a universal pattern found in folk legends, mythologies, stories, etc…, despite the culture surround the work or the time it was written. A character sort common in literature, specifically legends, are heroes. Two legends, I have read, contain this archetype, they are the Legend of King Arthur and the Epic of Gilgamesh.
