To be a successful student or teacher it is important to know the different learning styles. By definition “Learning Style” is an individual’s unique approach to learning based on strengths, weaknesses, and preferences,” There are four different learning styles visual, aural, reading/writing and kinesthetic, the learning style that will be discussed is the kinesthetic learning style. This paper will be discussing the kinesthetic preferred learning strategies, the awareness of individual learning styles, preferences and strategies and how they influence teaching for the student as well as the educator.
The kinesthetic learner learns by basically using all of their senses-sight, touch, taste, smell and hearing. The kinesthetic learner strategies usually use hands on approach. They tend to have to be moving like doodling during a lecture or standing. They learn by doing experiments or projects. Knowing their learning style will help when they are in a lecture, although they may not be an auditory learner they will use strategies to help them get through the lecture like highlighting and color coding through the lecture or while they are sitting they can remember to tense and relax their muscles or remember to take a tennis ball to squeeze, by doing these action the body will communicate to the brain and the kinesthetic learner will be able to retain the information. Students should eventually learn to adapt to other learning styles and will be able to communicate to the teachers about their learning style and this may help the student and the teacher with accommodations if it will help the outcome of learning be
