Kinesthetic Learning Self Assessment

My finding from the self-assessment comes as no surprise. I have a kinesthetic learning style, but both visual and auditory styles are close behind, I have become flexible in learning styles, depending on the subject I am studying will determine the type of style works best to obtain the most of the information, for example, I will gain more on new work instruction at work by practicing the process several times before I am comfortable; although, when learning stories from the bible, I pick up more by discussing the topic with other church members during bible study. I am a visual learner for standardized information, I absorb best by reading the information. My temperament is a director, again, this comes at no surprise. I am a result-driven

According to The Vark learning styles questionnaire the two learning styles that I learn best with best are aural and kinesthetic. Aural means I learn best when hearing the information spoken and by asking questions about the concept I am learning. The other way I learn best is being kinesthetic which means I use my five senses and hands on experiences to help me learn. The Aural side of me likes to remember stories, examples, and jokes, to be to relate them to the concept I am learning. I have found that I when attended class and really focus on what the instructor or professor is teaching I am able to grasp the concept that is being taught.…

According to the Learning Styles Inventory. My most developed and strongest learning styles are bodily-kinesthetic, verbal-linguistic, musical, interpersonal, and intrapersonal. The test reveals that I am not highly developed in any particular type of intelligence and I am weak and underdeveloped in visual-spatial, logical-mathematical, and naturalist intelligences. The book suggests that as a person with stronger interpersonal strengths, study strategies such as going over notes with fellow students are helpful. Based on my results as a strong verbal-linguistic individual, rewriting my notes in order to eliminate excess information and to hone into the important ideas, would be beneficial to my success in this course.…

In terms of Honey and Mumford’s learning styles theory I would label myself as an reflector. This means that my strengths are to observe what I have to do from a distance, consider situations from different perspectives, have all the information before I am able to contribute and make a decision and also observe and listen well. And finally likes…

After taking the Myers-Briggs Personality Test, I discovered that I am an ISFJ. I believe that this personality type accurately represents my personality, except for the ‘F’ in the typology. After learning from the lecture, I believe that I am an ISTJ. Each aspect of the ISTJ fits my preferences in learning and in my relationships with others.…

Assessment one “My Basic Personality” showed that I was indeed an ENTJ. Those of the ENTJ personality type are born leaders. They can become frustrated and impatient when things don’t unfold according to their expected plan or time frame, evoking notions of the “Type-A” personality (Drenth, n.d.). Assessment two “Ambiguity” showed me something new about myself. Having intolerance of ambiguity means that you tend to perceive situations as threatening rather than promising (Robbins, 2008).…

    VARK Inventory Reflection

Reflecting on my results from the VARK and MBTI inventories, I am not particularly surprised by what I see. The VARK inventory came back with a result of multimodal: 11 in visual, 13 in aural, 13 in read/write, and 14 in kinesthetic; whereas the MBTI inventory resulted in being an INTP: introvert, intuitive, perceiving, and right in the middle of thinking and feeling. I have no problems being a visual, aural, read/write, kinesthetic learner, or all at once, if available. Although I prefer to learn hands on and by teaching others what I already know, I can adapt to any learning or teaching style. While this does pose it’s advantages, I have always found it hard to apply myself with learning things that I am not wholeheartedly interested…

Initially, I was aware that I am an auditory learner before taking the learning style assessment. However, I also assumed that I would score higher as a visual learner on the questionnaire. According to my learning style results, I scored a total of thirty-two points for auditory preferences for learning, compared to my scoring for both visual and tactile learning style that resulted in twenty-six points. After evaluating my assessment, I can recall from my past experiences in several of my science courses, where I used auditory learning style more during class lectures compared to visual style. To clarify, and as stated in my previous journal entries, before changing my major to health sciences, I was a radiology major.…

Career Interest and Assessment The result from the career cluster survey says that I am social and enterprising. I disagree with me being social because I don’t like teaching people. I agree with me being enterprising because I like to figure out problems mentally rather than to persuade or lead people. My career cruising results are Visual and Auditory learning, I agree with both of these results because I have trouble with math so if the teacher is using pictures to explain a certain problem and really breaking it down so that I can understand it that really helps me when it comes down to taking a test or a quiz to remember how they explained it.…

Furthermore, I discovered that setting goals and creating a plan that incorporates a checklist is profitable for me. Not all learning styles can fit into a specific situation, there are times when a kinesthetic style is better than an aural. By becoming proficient in all learning styles, I would become flexible in all learning situations. The student should be able to shift towards the professors teaching styles in addition to exceling in their learning environment. Now, I work the best with the aural, kinesthetic, and read/write learning styles, with the weakest like being the visual learning style. By taking the content learned to the next level by shifting it across learning styles, I would gain a greater understanding towards it.…

Everyone has a different learning style whether you are a visual learner, an auditory learner, or a tactile learner. I took a quiz on www.educationplanner.org that told me I am a visual learner, “As a visual learner you learn by reading or seeing pictures” (www.education planner.org) I could not agree with this statement anymore, I always have to see pictures it helps so much when I am studying and reading things helps me be able to look back and picture what I was reading in my head. I also looked at the other types of learning styles on this website and I have to say some parts of the auditory and tactile learning styles describe me also like reading out loud sometimes to remember things better like an auditory learner or touching and doing like a tactile learner…
