KinderCare Learning Center was created to encourage, develop, successful students and allow them to open their minds, learn and become successful productive citizens. With their minds wide, open and ready to learn, and KinderCare has a unique way of encouraging children to become lifelong learners. KinderCare has been around for many years, and they believe that because life is filled with Choice's students, allowing students to choose what activities, they would like to participate will bring about excitement when it comes to engaging in learning. Smith, is a teacher at the KinderCare Center working with students 10-12 years of age Title 1 class, began teaching students with her favorite poem, It's Summer Time printed on chart paper. She points to the words, and the students take turns reading. Next Mrs. Smith rereads the poem and reads a Story Being Here with You, as part of the unit, she is teaching on friendship. Mrs. Smith introduced LEA saying, today we’re going to write a story like Mr. James, except ours are going to be about our class and how nice it is that we are all so different but alike. The student's brainstormed ways they were alike and different, students work in groups and discuss how they are alike and different they talk about what they like to do together, they recalled their summer picnic at the beginning of summer camp and how much fun it was. During this picnic trip, they met their 6-grade pen pals. The students created their own story about pen pals in the park. Next, the students divided into teams, one team played a sorting game with words, and another group used magnetic vocabulary words to write selected from their story to write sentences. Next, each of the groups did a presentation of their story, they completed after the student completed their assignment, they reassembled for Mrs. Smith to discuss them and occasionally ask the students how they thought they were alike and different. With this strategy, the resources the teacher used computer and smart board. Students
