The social worker Kim Mowatt, LSCW, is a graduate of Barry University, Miami Florida. Throughout her career, Kim’s has been involved in policy advocacy position that focuses on the critical aspect of social and economic policy that impact children. Kim Mowatt has formerly worked for the Department of Children and Families (DCF) in a supervisory position, in the Foster Care Department, participating in case staffing for clients that presented with severe mental health or behavioral health issues. Currently, Kim works for the Broward County School Board, Grade K – 12 and train interns from various universities. Much of her work entails writing psychosocial reports that provide extensive family history in order to help facilitate the appropriate placement for students in various educational settings. Another important aspect of her job involves conducting suicide assessments and providing crisis intervention with students. She also assists parents to navigate the Broward County school system in an effort to help their children attain academic success. Kim Mowatt works with a diverse group of students of whom most are minority students. These students are dealing with a plethora of issues such as homelessness, sexual and physical abused, poor attendance, tardiness, immigration and academic problems. Kim Mowatt, clinical social worker, assists this population by providing individual and family counseling, writing psychoeducational reports, conducting group work, connecting families to services and advocating for her clients. …show more content…
