“Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyle and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather it should be that of your inner self”. That verse taken from 1 Peter 3:3-4 simply states that inner beauty surpasses outer beauty. In the society we live in today, it’s difficult to believe that character, mind, and heart is still valued when the only thing that seems to be trending are the Kardashian’s. Difficult indeed, but many cases prove that statement to be true.

Mother Teresa, Gandhi, and even the Lord Jesus Christ are people who were deemed as unattractive by society, but even so made a big impact on society itself, for the better. “He has no form or comeliness; and when we saw Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him” Isaiah 53:2, description on the unattractiveness of Jesus Christ. As of today, that same man is followed, adorned, and worshipped by 2.2 billion people in the world, surpassing the amount of followers the dear Kim Kardashian has on the world's largest social site, instagram. Leading to show that mere appearance can never surpass the value of the inner being.

Rather if they were unattractive or attractive, there has not been a single historian who was well known based on looks alone. Even the great Cleopatra name would have not been echoed around the world till today if it wasn't for the many other achievements she achieved in her lifetime. This leaves me to say this, outward appearance is mere vanity and can only take one so far; But talent, intellect, and even a caring heart can take one farther in

By definition of middle schoolers, to be beautiful means that someone is physically attractive and enticing, but it also means that a person is content with who they are. For the past one hundred years, beauty trends and icons have changed drastically through each decade. Whether it was Hollywood’s Golden Age or the Roaring 20s, something new was thought of as beautiful at the height of each and every decade. In some decades it was desirable to have an hourglass figure, while in other decades it was desirable to have a boy like figure. The two are polar opposites, but they were each what women aspired to look like at some time throughout history.…

Kim Kardashian’s catapult into the business world and great success over the past decade makes her an ideal walking business model and one of much interest. The reasoning behind this study of Kim Kardashian is simply because her particular road to success is an uncommon one. We live in a society where certain behaviours and standards are forced upon us consciously and subconsciously. We are told that things must be done in a certain order, years of primary, secondary and tertiary education, graduate, get a job, get married, start a family and cease to exist. Kim Kardashian is the epitome of a successful business woman, she is a college dropout, not particularly talented in any skill and began her family before she was married.…

This essay will summarize Susan Sontag’s ideas concerning how beauty is seen in today’s modern culture and the consequences that these views have toward women, by using Susan Sontag’s vivid examples and definitions found in both “A Woman’s Beauty: Put-Down or Power Source” and “An Argument About Beauty”. Next, I will argue in support of most of her key points; however, I will also argue against some of the points presented in the essay. For example, I agree with her assertion that in todays modern culture women’s beauty is seen as parts and not as a whole and the effects of this distorted perspective. However, I disagree with her on how she believes that things will get better and how she blames Christianity for fostering one of the distorted perspectives of women’s beauty. Susan Sontag brings about a lot of key points that we as Christians should understand so as to bring about a better attitude and view towards women and beauty.…

The self-esteem of a young person can be decreased when looking at an image of “real beauty”. The impact the beauty industry makes on society is different within different countries; different countries tend to advertise beauty in different ways. We are in a society where beauty is consumed by image and not aspects of who you are.…
