For instance at a marine park called Sealand of the Pacific, three whales started to become aggressive and they began to scrape each other with their teeth which is often called raking. (Blackfish) This suggests that it is dangerous for whales to be kept together in captivity because the whales may become aggressive and hurt each other and that is not what scientists want. In addition, Lori Marino, a neuroscientist who was interviewed in the movie Blackfish said, “What happens as a result of them being thrown in with other whales that they haven’t grown up with, that are not part of their culture is hyperaggression… a lot of violence, a lot of killing in captivity that you don’t ever see in the wild.” This proves that whales should not be kept in captivity because being in captivity is actually the thing that is causing them to become aggressive. However, it is unjust and cruel to take orcas from their families and natural habitats just so selfish humans can throw them into small tanks and study them. In fact, about forty years ago some fishers were capturing orcas. They had aircraft, boats, and even threw bombs in the water so they could corner the whales in coves. The orcas tried to save the young but their plan was ruined because the humans had aircraft. The fishers took the babies from their families. One fisher even recalls starting to cry when hearing the families trying communicate with their young. The fishers knew that what they were doing was wrong and yet they continued.
