Robots: Whom to Blame Death Upon Kurt Gray’s Killer Thinking Machines Keep Our Conscience Clean and P.W. Singer’s Wired For War both have ideas and thoughts that either agree or disagree with robots in our society. Both authors ' views about robots are different but they both agree that robots in our society will help humans. In Wired For War Singer believes that the creations of robots would benefit not only our military, but would also prosper in situations that humans struggle with. In Killer Thinking Machines Keep Our Conscience Clean Gray believes, “if a thinking machine is to blame for someone’s death, then there’s no need to punish the humans who benefit” (Gray 309). “Agile in a Crisis, Robots Show Their Mettle” described them as “rescuers [that] are unaffected by the carnage, dust and smoke that envelop the remains of the World Trade Center. They are immune to the fatigue and heartbreak that hang in the air” (Singer 23). A robot used in the battlefield is not affected by things such as dust and smoke that would normally put the solider in danger. Not only are they not affected by their environment they are not affected by the death, soldiers are tremendously affected by the death of their fallen brothers and sisters. “Robots already play a large role in modern combat: Drones have killed thousands in the past few years, but are currently fully controlled by human pilots” (Singer 310). In this circumstance robot is being used to aid military pilots but the robots are in full control of the military pilots. The drones are used to also save the lives of humans, if a drone is shot down with no lives are taken just technology is lost. The main point I want make in this paragraph is that robots are here to help society by making the jobs of humans easier to be performed and safer. Robots have been introduced to the Warfield to help advance our weapons and technology such as drones and the PackBot. By doing so causalities of soldiers are being reduced by having less solders in the field and having more
