There are multiple outcomes that could occur They could have earned the money needed to buy the farm and had the opportunity to live out their very much desired dream. Also if they decided to spare his life George could have gotten him help with how to not panic in tense situations and also how to control his bodily function. He even suggests the alternate resolution when he says “couldn’ we maybe bring him in an’ they’ll lock him up. He’s nuts Slim . He never done this to be mean”( Steinbeck 97).
Overall George made a good decision when he decides to take Lennie's life. It was extremely hard for him to do since he really did love him. This decision saved LEnnie a lot of pain and fear because Curley would not have been sympathetic at all. Also Lennie kind of had it coming to him. There are boundaries that you should not cross and if you do then there will be harsh consequences. Maybe he should have been spared because he did not intend to kill Curley’s wife. But who is to say that he would not slip up again and kill or harm someone else again. So the best decision George could make was to kill Lennie
