As a young 13 year old in 8th grade, I was not expecting a reading teacher to once had been a rapper. As a teacher, his name was Mr. Hill but as a rapper, his name was Killa C. Everyone in 8th grade heard about him being a rapper before the year even started. His music seemed to be sort of devil worshipping and not true to his life. If I must say, it was stunning to see downtown Billings in a music video. In his videos he basically walked around the whole city neighborhood, throwing up his hands randomly. As most rappers want to be, he thought he was some sort of thug that lived in Billings, Montana.
Killa C was a reading teacher for middle schoolers in Laurel, Montana. To be honest, he wasn’t that bad of a teacher at all. Our class ready a book called The Hobbit. This book felt like it took the whole year to read, but it was a good book. The movie is a lot better but that might just be because I hate reading. Mr. Hill was kind and friendly to all of his students, unless someone fell asleep in his class. Someone had fallen asleep during our class period one day while we were reading our books, so he had everyone who was awake go out into the hallway. Mr.

Killa C had tattoos all over his body. His arms, hands, and neck were covered in ink, saying some words that have potential to scare someone. On each of his fingers besides his thumbs, were tattoos that said “Dead Thug”. Another tattoo was a clown that looked to be in the sights of a sniper crosshair. Thirteen to fourteen year olds were seeing these images everyday, and if we were to look him up, more disturbing photos would appear. He had an intimidating face and his photos were spine-chilling. During his small shows, because he wasn’t known at all, he would tend to paint his face the same color every time. The face paint colors he used were red, white, and black. Killa C also wore horns on his head for an even more horrifying

Right now in classrooms across the world, there are millions of high school students sluggishly dragging down the halls and dozing off during lectures. The question is: why are they so sleepy? Because these students are often troubled by demanding social lives, family commitments, extracurricular activities and extreme amounts of schoolwork, they commonly do not get adequate sleep at night. For most, it would be a mixture of these problems that cause them to lose rest. On the other hand, some teenagers are not bothered by any of these demands and do not have a problem with their sleep.…

Just as I had assumed nothing could get worse, the teacher announced we were moving on to reading books. When the teacher made the announcement, I thought maybe this would be a good way for me to expand my reading skills. I had no clue the teacher meant we would be reading all by ourselves. Each student in my class was given a book once a week and told by our two teachers to read alone in the school hallway. Every time we were assigned to do this I would sit there in the long, dark hallway with a confused look on my face, trying to read and comprehend the text on my own.…

Although junior year with Ms. Keenan, in room 205, was one of the best educational experience I’ve had. English was and still isn’t my strong suit. On the first day of her class I decided to sit all the way in the back with my best friend and completely ignore everything else that was going on in the class. While introducing herself to the class and telling her story about her life, Oscar and I were having a conversation about fantasy football and who were going to draft in the weeks coming soon. Surprisingly she pulled out stacks of book and hands them out to us.…

The day my older sister was reprimanded for getting a B on a spelling test and I was hugged for the C that I had received was the day I changed. The fact that they thought more of her than they did of me was infuriating. That night I stayed up till 1 in the morning struggling through the book I had been working on aimlessly for the last couple of weeks. The next morning, bleary eyed and smiling, I read the entire book to my teacher with only minor mistakes here and there. That day I earned two stickers from an astonished teacher and when the other kids eyed them enviously, I felt true pride for the first time in my…

I could communicate well with others and every subject was easy for me, but reading was still difficult for me. Great! Now more reading homework. One day in class Mrs. Bolmer asked “Who read the book assigned yesterday?” and of course I did my homework so I raised my hand.…
