The novel of To Kill a Mockingbird is written by Harper Lee. She wrote about how life was for the young girl named Scout. Scout is living with her father Atticus Finch and her older brother Jem Finch. Scout is close to being six and Jem is ten. Jem is very adventurous and protective of Scout. Since Scout’s mother passed away when she was two, she did not have any real memories of her. Jem has little memories of her which can occasionally make him sad. The mother had died from a heart attack changing the children’s life. Atticus is a lawyer and he was to defend Tom Robinson in the court case (Harper Lee Biography). But Scout at her age is taught rules and the Maycomb ways. So it gives you the opportunities to understand how it is for her and what she is experiencing. But in the book she thinks she is an older girl and she can do more things but people would say she is still young. She learns that there some people that are racist and judgmental. Her family teaches her plenty of things and also on how to be a good person. For example, Atticus tells her to not get mad at the people that call him a “nigger-lover”. There was racism being shown by the white people to the black people in Maycomb. One big way of racism was when Tom Robinson was convicted with raping a white woman. The white woman was Mayella Ewell and the evidence of this case was very low. It didn’t seem that from such low evidence he can be found guilty that easy. I would say that he was such a good person that he would not do rape her. Once the trial starts you can figure it out that he did not do anything wrong. For example, she had a black eye and Tom Robinson did not have a left-hand after the accident he had a long time
