To Kill A Mocking Bird takes place in the County Of Maycomb. Maycomb is a made up district that is in the southern part of Alabama. The book takes place in the 1930s, which is very important to the storyline. 1930 was when the great depression and poverty were abundant in the United States, also racism, which is what this book revolves around. Usually a books setting is like another trait for it, however, this books setting is so necessary for the plot, and what this book is about.
PLOT
This book peers into the life of a tomboyish spunky girl named Scout Finch, along with her brother, Jem, and widowed father, Atticus. The family lives in Maycomb, and even though the setting is during the depression, the family is very well off due to their dad being an accomplished lawyer. The brother and sister have their fun of messing with the neighbor, Boo Radley with their friend, Dill. Things start of slow in the book, it is mainly getting a feel for Scouts life. Stuff hits the fan when Atticus decides to take on a case of Tom Robinson, a black man accused of raping a white women. This may not seem like a huge deal today, but hi is the southern 1930s, and a town that is unreasonably racist. Scout and Jem have to face bullying from other kids, and even their family from their dads actions.
