The article wasn’t lengthy and it wasn’t short , it gave just the right amount
A short summery of an article doesn’t provide enough information for us to answer “How” and “Why” questions, so our understanding is stopped at the surface meaning. It just like we ignore all the scenery in the journey because we are too rash to reach the terminal of the journey. Moreover, medias know people prefer summaries, so they provide shorter summaries for us. Our patience of understanding the deep meaning is gone within this circle. If we are unable to understand the deep meaning, we will not create the deep meaning in our own…

Rape is a powerful word that can cause a lot of pain to a victim. The thought of being categorized as a “victim”, is not what one may hope for. Yet, there is always a possibility that the victim may not report this horrific crime. In the book Missoula, we hear the stories of brave young women who came forward to tell their stories. Yet,what makes these cases so appalling is how they were handled.…
Many people, men and women, view the world of sports as a man’s sphere, not to be intruded or invaded by women. Women are in sports and they are going to remain there until they have reached the equality they have been asking…
The irony is that, while sports events generate millions for each school, the workers are not paid” (Eitzen, 2005, p.26). “No other industry in the United States manages not to pay its principal producers a wage or a salary” (Eitzen, 2005, p.26). There are many different sports journalist that are talking about how the players are practically working for free. There was a decision by…
Jessica Valenti is a prominent feminist, she’s written four books on the matter and currently writes for The Guardian about Women’s Issues. I looked into her pieces and found a big problem with what she was talking about. One article was her complaining about catcalling, where she tells women to walk the streets without fear, which is certainly a good thing. But another article a year later, by the same journalist, says that she misses it and wishes society would give more attention to women.…
The author overall had a good article with a minimum number of…
However, I feel that the length detracted from my enjoyment of the article. I would not argue that this is a poor article; I actually think that it is written on a high academic standard, but I still did not enjoy it. I feel that the main reason for my dislike of this article is that I was assigned to read it. The article was very informationally dense and while not a negative attribute, I personally felt like it was a chore to finish reading the article. I can conclude that Bishop adequately communicated his topic and while a well written paper, I did not enjoy…
In sport today I believe women are treated in an unfair way to their male counterparts. Sport is controlled by the media in this century and women are looked at as sexual objects rather than for their talent like men are. The women are also then expected to wear skimpy clothing not because it’s better for the sport but because of marketing. Professional female athletes are seen as inferior to their male counterparts and therefore don’t get as much media coverage. Women athletes play the exact same games, train equally as hard, yet are still getting paid a large amount less than men.…
Billie Jean King said she decided at the age of 12 that she wanted to fight for equal rights for girls and women, she used tennis as her platform.(Equal pay for equal play Par 2). Billie King won the Italian open and was paid $600 in 1970. Ilie Nastase, her male competitor won the same title but was paid $3,500 ( Equal pay for equal play Par 1). The Western and Southern Open in which Serena Williams and Roger Federer both won, Serena was paid $495,000 and Roger $731,000 for the same title(Equal pay for Equal play Par 12). Being paid less than what you actually deserve because of your gender and in some cases, race, is demeaning to our…
Sammy Edmonds Mrs. Hernandez English 5-6 12 March 2017 D1 College Football Players Should Not Get Paid The NCAA, coaches, players and fans are debating whether or not D1 College football players should be paid for playing their sport. There has always been the illusion that men are better athletes than women. This idea is falsely portrayed. Female athletes work just as hard as male athletes, if not harder. They can run as far, jump as high, and play for as long as male athletes. Why then are female athletes paid so much less than males?…
If people were not brought up to watch the numerous amounts of male sports televised on television, then the inequality towards women would not be a subject to address. We have to blame ourselves for not showing interest in women’s sports (Flanagan 2). Women should be paid the same for their talent and hard work. Men are often known to be providers of their families. But today, women have moved into this role and are competing with men.…
Gender Inequality in Professional US Soccer In the United States, the professional opportunities, which are available for women to play soccer, are small compared to men. Not only that, but after having more success in competitive play, they do not earn an equal or higher pay than men as well. Soccer has been primarily a male dominated sport with more opportunities and funds allotted for development, earnings, and venues. Even though the US Women’s Soccer team has great success and support from the soccer community, they continue to struggle with equality in regards to their earnings, recognition, and the type and degree of punishment they receive when breaking rules or guidelines.…
Women are often paid much less than men because they do not generate enough attention for the public. If television stations aired more women’s sports, they would generate enough to fans to raise more money and receive high paychecks. Men sports teams are considered to be more popular and more exciting than women’s sports. If women’s sports were aired on the radio and television shows as often as men’s, they would have a chance to make more money. Also, men have excessive amounts of money given from salary to free gifts from big advertisement…
