Khirbet Qeiyafa Excavation

In the archaeological site Khirbet Qeiyafa, in Israel, after seven long years of excavation archaeologists believe they have found evidence of the existence of King David, the character mentioned in the worldwide story of the bile as the fight between “David and the giant Goliath.” In this site archaeologist have found footprints and charred olive pits in a mysterious two- gated city, that through the use of Carbon-14 testing can be dated at the end of the 11th century BCE and the beginnings of the 10th century. The excavations were led by Professor Yosef Garfield who is in the Chair of the Institute of Archaeology, Sa’ar Ganor from Israel’s Antiquities Authority and Prof Michael Hazel from Southern Adventist University of Tennessee; they have also discovered what seems to be the earliest writings documented in the history of Hebrew inside jars and on pottery, which can be used to further on support biblical tradition. …show more content…
It will also connect the bible with science, and bring people of different religions together to admire this new discovery; even when some scientists are still unsure of whether or not the connection is real, this site can serve as a middle ground. Moreover, there is also the use of pottery and tools that will help connect this site with other places and understand what was happening at the beginning of the 10th century which is known as “the days of Saul and David”. Nevertheless, there is always the suspicion that the archaeologists are making the site to be more than what it actually is, and that there are no real connections, but only circumstantial evidence, which would make the article untrue and
