The environment people grow up in plays a considerable role in shaping them into who they will become. Khaled Hosseini is an author acclaimed for informing readers about life in Afghanistan. Hosseini spent the first five years of his childhood in Kabul, Afghanistan. Many details of his life not only helped mold him into the individual he is today, but strengthen his unique writing style. Khaled Hosseini is a thoughtful man whose entire adolescent and adult life influenced his writing enormously, eventually leading to his success (Khaled Hosseini 1).
Khaled Hosseini was born on March 4, 1965 in Kabul, Afghanistan ("Tapestry Of Friendship: Redemption"). He was the oldest of five siblings, and was put under a great deal of pressure by his parents to become someone his brothers and sisters could admire (Khaled Hosseini 1). While living in Kabul, his father worked as a diplomat with the Afghan Foreign Ministry and his mother taught Farsi and History at a local High School ("Kite Runner Author Khaled"). During the time he spent in Afghanistan, Hosseini made friends with the family 's illiterate Hazara chef. The two later became so close Hosseini taught him how to read and write (Khaled Hosseini 1). Which Khaled took inspiration from while working on his novel The Kite Runner, and decided to include a young, illiterate, Hazara boy. Khaled also spent an extensive amount of time participating in the popular sport of kite fighting as a child, which he vividly described in his book…
