A. Recommended Decision
Syracuse University has decided to rebuild the Carrier Dome in the same location, capturing the well-documented history of the school’s athletics while improving the experience for all players, fans and community members. The total project is expected to be completed within 3-5 years, will cost approximately $500 million, but will provide a brand new state-of-the-art stadium that Syracuse University and the community can be proud of. Of the $500 million, $450 will be spent on the rebuilding process of the new stadium, with the remainder being spent on 1) accommodating the football, basketball, and lacrosse teams including negotiations with Ralph Wilson Stadium; 2) bringing additional bleachers and seating arrangements

The new KFC Yum! Center, the home of Louisville athletics, is a much smaller arena than the new Syracuse University facility with a capacity of 22,090. Despite its smaller capacity, the KFC Yum! Center features 72 luxury suites and 70 premium boxes that provide a major source of revenue for the team (KFC Yum! Center). Building a new stadium will allow Syracuse University to take full advantage of the potential revenue stream from luxury suites and premium boxes, that they have not been able to take advantage of in years past. As the teams do better in conference and post-season play, they will increase revenue sources from sponsorship deals and successful performances.
