I am writing this letter of reference for Mrs. Mary Livingston because it signifies that Mary is seeking employment different than Keystone Learning Services. As the former Director of Special Education at Keystone, I hired Mary initially to work as a special education teacher for Keystone’s Alternative Middle and High School. During that year of employment in that role, Mary was a significant asset as a special education teacher to our organization. Her strongest asset during that time, was acting as a diplomat between several volatile individuals. When an Assistant Director position at Keystone opened, I moved Mary into that role. Initially, Mary main responsibility in this role was to supervise three school district’s special education programs (Keystone at that time provided special education services for seven school districts in northeast Kansas). A year later, we added an additional school district’s special education services. I directly and indirectly supervised Mary for four years during my employment at Keystone. Since my leaving, Mary has maintained the same position for the last two years.

To gain a better picture of Mary’s skill, I would like to highlight three examples of why I would highly recommend Mary’s for an administration position:

Mary works hard to keep all parties informed, she believes whole-heartedly in open dialogue. As her administrator I used her as the peacemaker between feuding individuals or organizations. Often she was able to develop an agreement between both parties so that a resolution could be reached using good common sense, and if needed an authoritative hand. She was assigned the task of weekly meeting with her teachers, and building administrators. Once a month she met with district administrators. Through this approach, Mary was able to develop strong bonds between the Districts and Keystone and she eliminated many of the conflict that would normally
