I feel there are several key issues that are facing the nursing profession today, and these issues have a potential to significantly impact the nursing profession in the future. Most professions today have a common entry level that defines them as a profession. For the nursing profession there is no real common entry level, and this causes confusion to students looking at nursing for their professional career path. Many nurses also believe that they get less respect from other health care workers including physicians, administrators, and even sometimes advanced practitioner nurses.
