Our project group, with the help of the Key Bridge Foundation, has identified an issue with donor education. The people who donate money to the Key Bridge Foundation often do not know where their money is going. The thought process is that if the donors know their money is being used to truly benefit troubled youths, then they will be more likely to continue donating or possibly donate more money. The Key Bridge Foundation is a non-profit organization with a 501(c) charter, so all money donated goes directly towards benefitting the community. Our solution is to make a video that explains what the Key Bridge Foundation is to both current and potential donors. This video will show the donors that the Key Bridge Foundation is a restorative …show more content…
The majority of the video, which will only last about 2 to 3 minutes, should be dedicated to showing the donors exactly where their money goes. Because KBF is a 501(c), their financial records are public information. We should be able to provide a detailed layout of KBF’s accounts and show donors how effective their money currently is, and will be. Furthermore, we can show that KBF is actually in need of more donations, because even as a non-profit, the last fiscal year ended with negative numbers. After showing where the money goes, we can give specific facts and figures on the effectiveness of the community conferencing program. The program has a high success rate, with resolutions agreed upon over 90 percent of the time and resolutions completed over 80 percent of the time. On top of that, schools come back to the program and stay with the program nearly every time. Community conferencing is clearly a great solution for schools that have problems with young adults and even young children acting out. When you get an individual’s loved ones all into one room, you get the opportunity to see some of the underlying issues the person may be dealing with. This could help the participating members come up with effective resolutions to the problem at

In November, a New York police officer named Larry DePrimo bought a homeless man a pair of boots for the winter. The homeless man was later found to be a panhandler who would rather live begging on the streets than let anyone help him. In the article "Holiday Compassion Can Hurt". Micheal Medved tells readers that it would be better to donate their money to an organization, rather than giving it to just anyone on the streets . I would agree with the author in saying not to trust random people with the money we give to them.…

I would build a positive relationship with the families by having parent teacher conferences to let the parent know what their child is learning and what their child is have problem. Another way to have a positive connection with the parent would be having a family night to have fun night with the parent so they can understand how the facility helps the children learn what they know now and to let them know we care about each child in the facility. To encourage families to become more involved in our facility would be to have fun activities like play day, birthday parties, or…

Kids across the nation are standing out and making a difference. Whether its just picking up around the community or starting a foundation people can make a difference. Many people think kids are just in the way and don’t ever actually make a difference in their community. Blare Gooch started with a teddy bear, Alex Scott started with a cup of lemonade, and Zach Hunter started with a few pennies around his house. The smallest things can turn into a life changing difference.…

Dear Mrs. Gillam, I understand you are interested in donating to our community, and your generous offer would be greatly appreciated. My suggestion for you is to invest in a recreational center for all teens and young adults. This recreational center I am suggesting would have a variety of things such as: a sports center, a library\learning center, and a game center. It would be available for teens and young adults throughout the week. It would also have a tutoring program to help kids who are struggling in school.…

The first speech a person delivers can make or break other people’s initial impressions of him or her, giving them a reputation that may overshadow other qualities, good or bad. The crowd could love every word of the speech, and the speaker would revel in their everlasting applause. On the other hand, it could leave a stinging impression on the audience that would inhibit them from looking past this one particular speech if it did not suit their opinions. This type of situation can be every politician’s greatest fear, knowing his or her words will be remembered by so many people. Still, when being inaugurated, many American presidents have used this opportunity to allow their listeners to remember exactly why they won the election.…

After watching the movie “Waiting for Superman” for the second time since beginning my college career it just reiterates to me how messed up our public school system is. In this movie we follow about five children’s stories as they go through the lottery process of getting into school that will help them succeed in the future as opposed to the low performing public school they are currently in line to attend. The title refers to the need for someone or something to be able to come into this nation and help solve the problem of poor school systems. Whether that be the system as a whole, the teachers, or the community. Whatever the case may be, education is failing these students along with countless others throughout our nation and it is a problem that needs to be handled, however, there are not enough people willing to give up their job security in order to be effective teachers as opposed to just giving out the information.…

There is a sizable amount of non-profit organizations supporting just about every cause conceivable. Nevertheless, all of the organizations that I have reviewed recently are fantastic and worthy of a serious look. However, I am drawn to explore the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America organization. Big Brothers Big Sisters of America matches underprivileged children with an adult mentor that lives in the same community. Big Brothers Big Sisters targets children in dire need of support, including those living in single parent homes, growing up in poverty and coping with parental incarceration.…

My parents relocated my siblings and I from Quetzaltenango, Guatemala to San Diego, California in order to allow us to lead a prosperous future. Unlike children in Guatemala, we were presented with an excellent education in San Diego and indulged in learning. For as long as I can recall, discovering new facts and learning new things about the world fascinated me; consequently, I quickly began wanting to help others in their pursuit of learning. I was always the first to offer help to my struggling peers and would stay behind during recess to assist them. My acts were fueled by the desire to see students succeed and I would do anything to help them prosper.…

In today’s materialistic world, we are told that possessions and wealth will bring us meaning when in actuality they only bring temporary satisfaction and leave us craving more. We are so caught up in satisfying our own needs and wants that we rarely take time to look around us at the needs of others. Even when we do see others suffering, many of us are too busy to help or makeup excuses as to why we can’t aid them in their time of need. We look up to celebrities like Paris Hilton and 50 Cent who lead lavish, wasteful, and selfish lifestyles and often aspire to be like them. Many of these stars give little money to charity, and if they do it’s not publicized.…
