Key Aspects in Giving a Valuable Presentation

Introduction The key aspects in presenting a valuable and successful presentation are outlined in this paper. These students discuss the key aspects in delivering the presentation, speaker notes, nonverbal aspects, voice quality and practice. Additionally, these students give insight into what they believe are important factors that increase the excitement level of the presentation.
Delivering the Presentation
The first key element in delivering a valuable presentation is the ability of the presenter to speak with confidence and poise despite feelings of potential anxiety. Studies showed that 40% of people experience the fear of public speaking and supposedly some people fear it more than death. First, the main solution to decreasing anxiety and increasing confidence for delivering one’s presentation is thorough preparation. Additionally, a very important key element in delivering a valuable presentation is the speaker 's ability to truly believe that their audience is there to listen and that they are providing the audience with a valuable service. The speaker’s notes can be a helpful if they are written clearly and precisely. However, this process can also potentially have a negative affect on the speaker 's performance. If the speaker relies on their notes more than themselves it can lead to nervousness and create a habit of staring down at the notes. The speaker should also avoid writing down full sentences because they can be tempting to read off the note card. However the speaker should not be hiding the note card, and should use it simply when they need it by taking quick glances at the key points on the note
