Kewauna's Ambition By Paul Tough: Character Analysis

“Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life - think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success.” - Swami Vivekananda. Each and every person has their own way to success and will reach for it no matter how rough it can get. The way I plan to succeed is to be a leader, not procrastinate, if I do, I'd give myself a punishment, pay attention to directions and set goals and stick with them. The one I feel that is most important is dressing well to feel good about yourself to succeed. In the close reading, the book we read was called, “Kewauna’s Ambition” written by Paul Tough. She shows her ways of being successful in the reading and will be explained soon. Also, we read “Marita’s Bargain” written by Malcolm Gladwell, which is a girl that attends a school year round called KIPP. Her life is busy with school, almost like mine. …show more content…
You’ll be one step further to your goal. Exactly what Kewauna did in the book. She would sit in front of the class to be noticed and answer the questions pg.( )(Line). That is what leadership looks like. Kewauna also did not procrastinate with her homework, she would get it done in time. That is something her and I have in common and definitely a characteristic everyone should have to succeed. Kewauna sees that the girls in her class sit in the way back, not wanting to participate during class. She doesn’t want to be like them because they aren't learning to succeed in life.
