She described her passion for writing as a child and sending her poorly written stories to the “New Yorker” only to be rejected countless times. She goes on talking about her life as an unhappy waitress after college pursuing her dream of being published. She would go on to be rejected in the span of six years finding herself feeling discouraged. Although receiving a college education this did not guarantee her success as a writer although being given an advantage. She was not met with success until “Eat, Pray, Love” an effort met after countless efforts through writing and never giving up her passion. She continues talking about writing and describing it as something she loves more than herself, a concept from her adolescence when growing up that followed her even through her poorly received follow up to “Eat, Pray, Love”. Gilbert reached her success doing what she was most passionate about. Her passion in her craft encouraged her to continue working even through her failures.
