Coming from a multicultural community, the essence of being non-tendentious and empathetic towards everything minoritized in society are a significant importance to my parents. I was born biracial, with my mother being Argentinean and father being white. The value of vigorous work, loyalty to family, and education are prioritized by my parents and myself. These values have influenced my life in an effective and affirmative way that I can contribute to Towson. My mother often recites "hard work beats talent when talent does not work". Stated by Kevin Durant, it emphasizes how honest, and vigorous work is incredibly important. To her, this quote is successful in comprehending what she wishes that my brother and I can learn. My mother did not have the opportunity to receive a college education but she desperately wishes that I am given that opportunity. For her and myself, I am committed to …show more content…
I have struggled with attention to my studies, and being extremely introverted that I was unable to participate in social events . Last year, I made a oath with myself that I was going to get exceptionally improved grades and become less self-conscious. When my grades began to drop, I talked to my teachers on ways I could raise my grades. I ate lunch with my social science teacher and went to my math teacher after school for an hour every week. I studied, focused more, and completed all my homework on time. At the end, I believe I received a grade that I will always be proud of. My quarter grade was a 3.0 and my GPA went up .4 points. Including, I joined theater and model United Nations, and from doing so was able to become more social that I am now participating as an actor in the next school play. I believe through my past experiences of working extremely hard in school and being close to family, I can bring something truly great to the Towson
