Although he did not really try in high school, he was looking for a college with good academic reputation. His primary choice was Gustavus Adolphus college. Gustavus was a really good school academically, and it was where his best friend was going. At the time, Kevin was looking for a small school to attend. His second choice was the University of Minnesota. He did not want to go to the University of Minnesota because it was not as good of a school as it is today. “It was a choice to fall back on,” Kevin stated. He got accepted into Gustavus without having to take the ACT or SAT. His grades and Pre ACT score were good enough to get him in. Once classes started, it was a huge wake up call for Kevin. He was not used to the workload of a college schedule. Showing up late, not turning in homework, and doing poorly on tests were some of the issues Kevin was faced with. Falling behind in every class, Kevin needed a change. He tried to create good study habits but he did not have any from high school. Confused and frustrated, Kevin found assistance in the library. The library would be the place to go if he had any homework or needed to study. He came up with a study schedule that helped him out immensely. It took him a while, but Kevin slowly figured out how college worked. Kevin wishes he would have done things differently in high school and college. Looking back at his high school experience, he had a lot of fun and created memories, but he wishes he would have taken it a bit more seriously.
