“After a while, the whole office was engulfed in smoke.” This is a quote by Kevin Delaney from one of his crazy high school stories. Sitting on the couch, watching Sunday night football, Kevin relives his glory days. Sliding through high school does not pay off at college. High school came easy to Kevin, almost too easy. Kevin was the type of student to not study and pass with flying colors. “Throughout my high school career I only studied for a handful of tests,” Kevin explained. “I didn’t have to focus on school as much as most kids, so that got me into some trouble.” He remembers this specific story that he still reminisces with his buddies about today. Kevin and his friend were helpers for their physical education teacher, Mr. King. …show more content…

Gustavus was a really good school academically, and it was where his best friend was going. At the time, Kevin was looking for a small school to attend. His second choice was the University of Minnesota. He got accepted into Gustavus without having to take the ACT or SAT. His grades and Pre ACT score were good enough to get him in. Once classes started, it was a huge wake up call for Kevin. Falling behind in every class, Kevin needed a change. He tried to create good study habits but he did not have any from high school. Confused and frustrated, Kevin found assistance in the library. The library would be the place to go if he had any homework or needed to study. He came up with a study schedule that helped him out immensely. It took him a while, but Kevin slowly figured out how college

Like many students, college students always want the easiest way to attain a good grade. That was what I experienced in high school. Teachers give credit for work completed rather than the accuracy of the work and students would receive credit for things that had nothing to do with materials being taught in class. For example, my teacher would give extra credit on essays for bringing tissue boxes to class. In high school, students get used to slacking off and procrastinating however teachers seemed like they did not care to help discourage these bad habits.…
