Kevin Bacon's Cop Car

Improved Essays
Kevin Bacon is a badass and he gets to show off that badassness in Cop Car, a film that is simple in plot, but deep in satisfaction. I've seen it touted as a horror film, but the truth is actually that it's more of a thriller, with a few bits and pieces of dark humor thrown in for good measure. The DVD (also on Blu-ray) that was released by Anchor Bay is light on features, but the gratifying feeling of watching a great film makes up for any grievances towards the disc. PLOT SUMMARY

MOVIE

As the lovely plot summary shows above, the story is straight forward, but it's the fantastic performance from Kevin Bacon that produces excellence. I've always been a fan of Kevin Bacon's acting, yes, even the much maligned Hollow Man is still a movie I enjoy checking out once and awhile. In Cop Car, Mr. Bacon produces a performance that is both humorous and scary all at once. As I so casually mentioned before, the film has bits and pieces of dark humor sprinkled throughout, even when carnage and death are present on screen.

However, XXX and XXX put in a stellar performance that brought me back to my dumb days of being a kid. A vast majority of everything they do is both terrifying and innocent; be it them taking a cop car on a joy ride or playing with guns. I lost count how many times I flinched at them handling rifles in such an unsafe way. Scary, frightening real

Where as I normally end up arguing against why a film should be considered a horror film, this time I'm going other way and argue why Lightning Bug is a Horror film. As I stated in Horror, My Definition, a Horror film is a film that used dread and horror, while trying to evoke negative emotions. Lightning Bug does that for me, upon first viewing I wasn't that impressed and disregarded is horror elements. Instead focusing on how its a Coming of Age Drama. But after viewing the film never really settled and has passed through my mind on several occasions and when I reflect on the film it's dark and haunting undertones that remain.…

    1. Over a hundred people were involved in the production of this film. The entire cast and crew are not given equal credit in most films. The majority of the camera crew and other production workers are not given as much credit for their work as the actors and director/producers, even though they play a huge role in the development and production of the movie. The making of a huge blockbuster like ‘The Departed’ involves the use of an immense crew.…

I really enjoyed this film the characters were fun and so was the dialogue. The film almost remind me of 10 Things I Hate About You which was said to be based of a Shakespeare play The Taming of the Shrew, in which the leading lady was originally against marriage yet somehow was tricked into one. Jan is the shrew which is defined as an ill-tempered woman characterised by scolding and nagging and Brad is the man that tames her as his alter ego Rex. Rex represents everything Brad is not and that is the only reason why Jan fell in love with him. In my honest opinion, Brad is a creepy and I would not want go to his house of horrors for anything.…

The movie does come back around to the Ripper subplot and it effectively keeps the murderer's identity a secret for most of the movie, but I would…

By exploiting clichés common to slasher flicks, Tucker and Dale vs. Evil jabs not only at the horror genre, but at society’s bias against unlikely heroes. The plot avoids many trite horror movie elements, but the final climax hits them head on.…
