Kenyatta Speech

Improved Essays
In our recent class election I voted for Kenyatta, simply because we shared a lot of the same ideas. For example, we share the same views on abortions. We both agree that abortion should be legal in the United States. And even though she doesn’t state what she personally believes on the matter, she does give excellent justification for her decision. In addition, we basically have the same belief on our second amendment rights. I honestly wouldn’t want to be left with only a butter knife to defend myself. And even though her hypothetical situation was rather scary it was very believable.
The issue on transgenders was probably, in my opinion, the biggest factor in this election. In all honesty it was one of the most important issues on the list. I mean we constantly hear about this everywhere no matter how long it has passed. One person brings it up and then suddenly you have a group of people shouting at each other. Some stating the “laws” of the twenty-first century while the majority, at least in texas, preach the bible. And although I didn’t share the same opinion as Kenyatta, I understood the reasoning behind her decision and I respect it. Building a “both sex bathroom” is probably the easiest and less problematic way to resolve the situation.

Although I didn’t agree on all her responses, I was able to understand her reasoning behind her answers. For example, we didn’t exactly agree on the death penalty, but I admire the way she created a solution, by means of a process that would give the persecuted the right to a trial before being sentenced to death, instead of just bluntly saying kill

When it comes to Global warming, being a vegetarian should be turned to as a first resort rather than going more toward the Prius, a car that has been made to cut vehicle emissions in half in an attempt to fight against global warming. Kathy Freston’s article “Vegetarian is the new Prius” caught my eye immediately when choosing an essay for the very fact that, I want Toyota Prius, and also because I’ve tried going vegetarian. Although I see nothing wrong with being a vegetarian, the lifestyle just didn’t work for me. I do to a certain extent agree with her argument because ever since I took ecology in high school, the environment has been very important to me, and I do what I can to help preserve it. Freston wrote that President Herbert Hoover promised a chicken in every pot and a car in every garage”.…

In a world full of different people and different things, how can we still seem to be connected? Dr. Chitra Divakaruni, author of One Amazing Thing, was able to express this to every incoming first year student at Appalachian State University. During the short time Dr. Divakaruni was on stage, she discussed many different things, from the book that she wrote for all incoming Appalachian State students, to the times that that she has experienced conflict in her life. Dr. Divakaruni’s speech connects to the course ‘Conflict and Peace’ because she discussed Hurricane Katrina, she gave details about a lady she came in contact with that had been abused in some way, and her book that she wrote is nothing shy of a being strictly about conflict and resolution. I will be using stories told by Dr. Divakaruni, and her book One Amazing Thing to support my thoughts.…

    Henry Speech

In the historical play Henry V by William Shakespeare, we are introduced to the story of a young and mysterious King Henry V of England, and his quest to conquer France under the reign of Charles VI of France. (“Henry V (play)”) details Henry’s life leading up to and following the Battle of Agincourt in the year 1415. From the very beginning, the Chorus portrays Henry as a glorious King who is about to engage in an epic and glorifying battle with the French. However, the Chorus then reveals that the play will not be as heroic and godly as initially envisioned. This is because there is a shortage in the resources necessary to depict this great spectacle, and it is instead the audience’s responsibility to both create and imagine the play.…

To start off, the black people are found outlawed in their own land, but by standing together against the ones who outlaw them, they will find happiness in their homes and may live freely. First of all, in the “I Have A Dream” speech, King talks about how the black people are being treated and how in a land that belongs to everyone, they cannot live safely and without worry in the line,“the Negro...finds himself exile in his own land.” When King delivered this speech to thousands in front of the Lincoln Memorial, he didn’t know where the level of discrimination would be in following years, but because of his effort to keep everyone fighting against it together, they were able to overcome it and live freely in the years to come. Additionally,…

I’ve chosen to focus on “Writing Process” as the subject of this reflective introduction, using my analysis paper, “Analysis of Robert Khayat’s Inauguration Speech,” and my argument paper, “Abortion: Helpful or Hurtful to our Economy?,” as examples of how important this learning outcome has been to my overall growth in Writing 101 this semester. I chose this outcome because on every paper I wrote this semester I had issues with drafting, revising, editing, and proofreading my work. A lot of my papers could have used some work, but I’m not one who is good coming up with ideas or well at fixing grammar mistakes. Writing process is an important part of writing because it’s the start and finish of a paper, and being able to perform the writing process well will help me be able to…
