He is signed with a small individual record label named Top Dawg Entertainment also known as TDE. He first joined the record label in 2010 with his formal rival Jay Rock and Schoolboy Q. His latest album, “To Pimp A Butterfly” surprisingly, doesn’t include any artist from TDE. Every song on the album only include him, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but it would’ve been nice to have seen some familiar names from TDE. “To Pimp A Butterfly” had a lot of hype prior to its release, surprisingly, because it had no promotion. This album doesn’t live up to the hype though based on, his past albums, the content on the album, and the lyrics. …show more content…
So of course when Kendrick Lamar released his new album everyone thought it was going to be just like the past two. Section 80 and good Kid m.A.A.d city had the best combination of beats, lyrics, and content. Section 80 was about the city he grew up in and how it wasn’t a very good place to live. He goes over it with a nice smooth beat that really brings a sad emotional feeling. The album good Kid m.A.A.d city was about his childhood growing up and how he was a good kid living in a mad city. Good Kid m.A.A.d city was more of a serious tone album, the beats were more slowly pitched. Considered by many to be the, “Most talented Rapper of his Generation,” Kendrick Lamar has become extremely influential and popular since the release of his hit album Good Kid, M.A.A.D City (Stone). It is this great influence around which his second and most recent album, To Pimp A Butterfly, is based. Throughout the album Lamar struggles in dealing with his wealth and influence: each song is a slow progression from an abusive, wealthy consumer to a wiser man who understands the good he can do with his power and influence. At the beginning of his album, Lamar blatantly abuses his power: he is a carless, all consuming “caterpillar” (Mortal Man).…

The loss of a “father figure” can be detrimental in a child’s life; it is similar to learning how to “walk with out having feet”. Instead of allowing this loss to be a deterrent in Tupac Shakur’s life, he has made it into fuel, the fuel to his burning desire of a better tomorrow for him and his family.…

Acting as a foundation of Kendrick Lamar’s album “To Pimp a Butterfly”, Shakur is incorporated and merged with the name of the album. He incites a tribute by initially naming his acclaimed album “Tu Pimp a Caterpillar” – which would abbreviate to “TuPaC” but then was later changed.
