“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life”- Confucius. The author of this quote is Confucius. He was a Chinese teacher, editor, politician, and philosopher in 400 BC. Even though this quote is old, it is still relevant to many people today. One of those people is Ken Williams. Williams is an actuary at Country Financial in Bloomington, Illinois. He enjoys his career because there is always a variety of things to do and he loves finding solutions to problems the company might encounter. Many people hear the word “actuary” and automatically think “math”, but they do many other things other than math. Full-time actuaries generally receive benefits in addition to a salary. These may include: paid sick days, vacation time, health coverage, and retirement plans. Williams likes to use his benefits traveling around the world and spending time with his family when he has days off. One of the major benefits of the job is the high-paying salary. For actuaries in Illinois, the entry wage for an actuary is around $67,000 a year. The median wage is about $85,000, and the experienced wage is about $116,000. Overall, I really enjoyed interviewing and getting to learn more about what Ken Williams does every day. He is very interesting and seems to really enjoy his job as a whole. The interview went smoothly and I could really understand what the interviewee was thinking and feeling. I know not everyone finds a career that they love and enjoy going to everyday, but I believe if you do find a career that you love, then you really have a chance of being successful and living a happy
