Such a few amount of people actually come out and say they’re suffering or have suffered because of what the people around them will say about all of that. People in this world are judgemental and cruel, and what they need to learn is that a mental disorder isn’t the end of the world. “There’s a tremendous need to implode the myths of mental illness, to put a face on it, to show people that a diagnosis does not have to lead to a painful and oblique life,” said Elyn R. The show shows how badly a person can and will be affected by mental illness, all throughout the first season it deals with coping skills and a teenager trying to improve her self-image. The teenager, Rae suffers with depression, anxiety, binge-eating and self harm, while she was in the hospital she had a friend named Tix, who has an eating disorder and an issue with physical contact with everyone beside Rae. Rae makes a point half-way through the second episode that, ¨Broken people fall to bits sometimes. That 's what they do.¨ (Touched.) People always tell other to keep their heads together, that they shouldn’t fall apart at the little things, what Rae said in that episode is saying that when someone who has been through hell breaks, even over small things, it’s okay because that’s just what those people will do, they shouldn’t be punished because they couldn’t handle something. People need to know that when it comes to their mental health, it’s okay to think about themselves sometimes, to curl up and cry it all out. This show is so important in telling girl that they should love themselves and that if they need to take a mental health day then, it’s okay, ¨There is nothing wrong with
