The Ken and Barbie killers were a couple that conducted murders together for their own pleasure. This case is very unique from when the study started because of its nature and type of crime. “Ken” real name was Paul Bernardo and “Barbie” real name Karla Homolka. This case is very unique because it was linked from an early age of Paul Bernardo, which led to his rampage.
In Paul Bernardo early childhood his father Kenneth fondled with a girl and was charged with child molestation. From such an early age, Paul witnessed his own sister get sexually abused by his own father which led to the corruption of his mind adding to the way he is now. They were both attending a convention in Toronto. She was 17 years old and he was 23 and later Bernardo married Homolka on June 29 1991. After their marriage it didn’t last like a normal couple for very long. There were video tapes that were recorded by Paul Bernardo and Karla Holmoka raping and killing young girls. Paul sexually abused about 3-7 girls every year from 1987-1989, When married to Karla Homolka he raped and killed 3 teenage virgins with Karla watching. She was offered a cigarette, which Paul said was back at his car. When she was close enough to the car, he wrapped his sweatshirt quickly around her head, forced her into the vehicle. After 24 hours of rape and abuse by both of the killers, Mahaffy was murdered sometime Saturday night. Her body was ditched at a side road with her body pieces fused with concrete blockings. This case study is a very important study in the field of psychology, because after all those murders conducted Karla Homolka is released from prison and is living a normal life and remarried and has children. In trade for a plea bargain, she testified against Paul during his murder trial. She was given only 12 years in prison for manslaughter. Karla was later released on July 4, 2005.
