Kelly McGonigal’s topic was about stress and the recent studies that have revealed that stress can actually be helpful rather than harmful. The speaker clearly defined her topic and provided multiple statistics and research findings to help back up her claims. She introduced her topic at the very beginning of her speech by sharing her initial thoughts about stress and how she shared the common belief that all stress is destructive. McGonigal used was by organizing her information in a causal outline. She organized her information by given examples of the causes and the effects of stress or stating the effects to cause. Dr. McGonigal also uses various references to back up her information. Not only was she able to do many creditable references, she also gave oral footnotes in her speech. Dr. McGonigal’s speech was eloquent, information, and engaging through the entire presentation. She kept her information about the topic organized by stating her topic, introducing her thesis, providing supporting ideas, and finally summarizing her final points. She engaged with the audience and allowed room for them to participate in her presentation. During her speech, she would give them exercises that were related to stress and would have them play different roles when walking them through a stressful scenario. Based on her presentation, you could also tell that she is very passionate about this topic. She seemed to express a lot of concern for the great need to redefine our original thoughts on stress. In addition, Dr. McGonigal was very enthusiastic when expressing the positive effects of a positive stress perspective. In all, she gave an enormous amount of information on the recent studies conducted about stress.

Dr. McGonigal did a great job given her speech; she was informative, enthusiastic, and passionate about the topic. She followed her outline and delivered a great speech. She also had great eye-contact with the audience and engage with them by given them the chance to participate during her speech. Dr. McGonigal was engaging and had a great tone of voice while pacing within the appropriate stage give.
