I agree with you, Keith’s song was mainly a morale booster. The 9/11 tragedy hit too close to home for him. He had already been working very closely with the trips to bring entertainment and encouragement for nearly a decade. He was raised in a military family too. Like many musicians do, he expressed his emotions through his music. I found it particularly interesting that he didn’t want to record it. Which musician would write a song, perform it and not want to record his music? He had refused to record the song and sang it only live at his concerts with military personnel. I think he already knew that his song was meant for a particular audience and not for everyone. He knew his lyrics were very patriotic with militaristic sentiments. Were
