Keeping Up With The Kardashians, is a reality TV show that has captured the attention of many individuals from the moment it first aired. The show is about a large family of five siblings, a mother, and stepfather and how they cope with family situations, their unity, and their views on topics that relate to the American society today, the siblings are, Kim, Khloe, Kendall, Kylie, Kourtney, Rob, the mother named Kris, and the stepfather, Bruce. Their family’s TV show has been going on for years and I decided to choose one episode in particular to discuss their morals, ethics and values. In the episode I watched, which was season twelve of episode eighteen, the issues about social image and family were present and the episode mainly focused …show more content…
The Kardashians are seen as positive role models to some people because they come across situations that happen to young individuals in American society like, relationship issues, family issues, and self image issues. (Wolf 2016) The Kardashians may also be seen as negative role models because they make the audience feel bad about their self image and this causes girls to suffer from an eating disorder, low self- esteem, and have difficulty accepting their bodies. (Wolf 2016) The Kardashians worry heavily about their body image and have professionals help them with their wardrobe, makeup everyday in the morning and in addition promote dietary drinks to their followers, for slimmer bodies; the help of professionals to look good everyday is not seen regularly in society by other people and this causes them to put more pressure on themselves on how they look because they are scared of being judged by the media. The Kardashians are also seen as negative role models because they distract the audience of the important things that are occurring in the world currently, there are important social issues to know about and try to bring a change then knowing about the life of a family on a reality TV show.
