I try to keep an open mind when looking at the world. There are so many different perspectives and idea out there that not allowing yourself to consider them doesn’t seem very smart to me. This semester we have read many interesting things about life and the universe, and I have tried to understand most of the thoughts and ideas in the books we have read. By allowing myself to keep an open mind to new ideas, I believe has helped me to learn many new things from the books we have read this semester. Things that not only are useful for understanding the universe, but for understanding myself. “Big Bang” by Simon Singh is a book that teaches about how the theory of the Big Bang came to be. Reading this book can teach you all about scientific processes and how important scientific discoveries are made. It can teach you the history of important scientist such as Einstein, Galileo, Hubble, and Hoyle and the different ways they have contributed to science and the Big Bang theory. If no one were to die the world would be filled with people that are stuck believing the same ideas forever. In order for us to grow and progress we need new people to come along and think new things and make new discoveries. It is important to respect the work of the old scientists, but in order for us to progress they must die and make way for new scientists to build on their ideas with fresh new perspectives. It is this way for the rest of the world too. Nobody wants to die, but the fact is that death is a very important part of the universe that we cannot and should not avoid.
