Keep Your Theology Out of My Biology

Every person regardless of their race, gender, age, living situation, etc has rights. Every person regardless of their race, gender, age, living situation, etc has the right to life, and with the right to life comes the right to make decisions about how he, but in this case she choose to live her life. Therefore, on a basis of logical and ethical reasoning abortion should be legal based on medical knowledge rather than theological reasons, because citizens deserve autonomy.
Childbirth is not easy thing women have died from giving birth, and there are situations that should be undeniable when it comes to deciding whether or not abortion should be considered. Common situations include mortality, rape victims,

A large group of people believe that it is the ethical obligation of the mother to care for their child. Most believers of this argument say that, “A mother is emotionally connected to a child and it is her responsibility to care for her child even though it was a ‘mistake.’’” (Source B) However, some soon to be mothers do not want their biological child raised by anyone other than themselves, and by forcing someone to give birth to someone and raise a child when they are not ready. This destroys autonomy. Bringing me to the second mostly commonly used argument against abortion: rights of a fetus. “A fetus has rights, because from the point of conception it is living” (Source K). This is a common misconception, because a fetus is not actually living until it is 21 weeks old (Source D). This fact is widely accepted by medical professionals, because if a child were to be born premature to 21 weeks it has 0 chance of survival due to the fact that it is so underdeveloped. Therefore, a fetus has no rights prior to the 21 week mark, only this mother does. Lastly, a lot of negative reasoning for abortions comes from individuals theological beliefs. “It is not your child, but it is a child of God” (Source J) The simple fact of the matter is, this is a reason as to why theology is not incorporated into our laws. Even though the constitution guarantees us freedom religion, everyone has different religious beliefs, and we can not force everyone to follow the guidelines of them

Every unborn child should have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness in the second and third trimester. In 2010, research shows that states indicated that unborn children are considered humans under tort, property and criminal law (Roden, 2010). By these laws shown, a mother shouldn’t get to choose whether the fetus lives or dies. The unborn child is its own person and by a mother aborting her own child should be considered murder. Under law a child is supposed to be born for many different reasons, including being capable of having a legacy (Roden, 2010).…

This question always comes about one way or another. Does the mother have more rights than that of a fetus? Analogies in Munson’s materials help us evaluate these types of situations and make informed, educated, morally right decisions. Robertson and Schulman state, “This balance will vary with the burdens of altering the mother’s conduct and the risk of prenatally caused harm to offspring. Depending on the balance of risk, benefits, and burdens, prenatal conduct may be discretionary, advisable, prudent, or even obligatory...”…

Abortion is one of those topics you don’t just bring up at the dinner table. Abortion shouldn’t be done at free will. There should be boundaries set into place when dealing with this issue. If someone is dying while carrying the child they should have the option to abort. If a person was forced to have sex, without consent, and they got pregnant, they should be allowed to abort the baby if they choose too.…

From the liberal perspective “A woman has the right to decide what happens with her body. A fetus is not a human life, so it does not have separate individual rights.” ("Conservative vs. Liberal Beliefs," 2010) Thusly, if women want to have an abortion it should be her right to do so instead of the governments or churches telling her what she can or cannot do. One case that helped win this right was the Roe vs. Wade Case.…

Abortion isn’t murder until at least 24 weeks after conception/fertilization. This is where most people are confused. It 's easy to argue that a baby is a baby but yet at the same time scientifically a human isn 't considered a human until at least 20 weeks. From conception until 24 weeks it 's just considered a sac of cells and given the name “fetus” which normally we refer that name to an unborn baby.…

A theory about religion is that life starts at conception. People with other beliefs should not be forced to abide by this certain theory. Legal abortion today states that human life starts at birth, but when a baby is born, it grows and develops into a teenager, then a mature adult, until it finally becomes old and dies. Humans are made to develop and change, so a human becomes a human during conception.…

Pregnancy and prenatal harm to offspring arise many issues. What is the right balance of the fetuses "rights" and the mother 's rights of bodily integrity? Finding the accommodating balance is both difficult and challenging. Both the fetus and mother must be analyzed and evaluated to come to an ultimatum deciding what is best for the unborn child, while also considering the mother 's rights to autonomy and bodily integrity. Robertson and Schulman say, "Ethical analysis must balance the mother 's interest in freedom and bodily integrity against the offspring 's interest in being born healthy.…

The main contention with opposing views is when they believe the fetus is recognized as a person. Some believe that is mortally wrong to kill an innocent person no matter the size/age. “Since the fetus is an innocent being, it is mortally wrong to terminate its life.” There is a universal consensus that terminating an innocent person’s life is wrong but proponents of abortion fault the assertion that a fetus has equal status as a person. There is no real answer to when the fetus is actually a human; it’s just all opinions.…

Abortion has been around for quit sometime now, and its support is only getting stronger. Advocates of abortion emphasize one’s ability to have the choice of whether that person wants to keep the baby or not. They believe that the person that was conceived is technically not a human being yet, and is a person once the mother has given birth to the child. Because they believe that the person they are aborting is not a human, it is then okay to end its life. They make arguments such as having the option of abortion will help victims of rape, incest, or if the person is just not ready to have a child.…
